How to bet and odds explained

Here are just a few more ways in which we’ve got your football betting Malaysia needs covered.

Fractional Vs decimal odds

Across the world, there are different betting odds systems used. In the UK and Ireland, sports betting fans are used to what is called fractional odds. These odds are easy to explain. Let’s look at an example:

Manchester United 1/2

Draw 4/1

Liverpool 5/4

In fractional odds, the second number always represents the stake, and the first number the return (minus the stake).

So, using the above example, if you bet 2 MYR on Manchester United, and Manchester United win, you will receive 1 MYR + 2 MYR (your stake) in return. So you win 1 MYR with a 2 MYR stake.

If the match ends in a draw, and you have bet 1 MYR, you will receive 4 MYR + 1 MYR (your stake) in return.

If Liverpool win, and you have bet 4 MYR, you will get 5 MYR + 4 MYR (your stake) in return.

So in this example, the draw offers the biggest return in relation to your stake.

Decimal odds – favoured in Europe and other parts of the world – work on the same principle but offer up the same mathematical equation in decimal form, rather than as a fraction. So here are the same odds as above, but this time in decimal form:

Manchester United 1.5

Draw 5.0

Liverpool 2.25

In the above decimals, the numbers represent what you would receive from a 1 MYR bet. So if you bet 1 MYR on Manchester United to win, you would get 1.5 MYR as a return (including your stake). If you bet 2 MYR, you would get 3 MYR (including your stake, so you can see it works out the same as the fractional odds above.

The markets you can bet on

If you love football, want to enjoy football betting and now have a good hang of understanding the odds, now it’s time to explore the markets. Often there are more than 100 different markets available on any big match. Here are some of the most popular betting markets explained.

This is the classic, original football betting market. Simply bet on one team to win, or the match to end in a draw. 1 is the home team or the team named first, x is the draw, and two is the away team or the second team listed.

Draw no bet

Draw no bet is like 1×2, but it takes the draw out of the equation. Bet on the home team or away team to win (not the draw), and if the match does end in a draw, then your stake is returned.

HT/FT is Half Time/Full Time. Bet on the team that will be winning at half time, and then the team that will be winning at full time. It doesn’t have to be the same team!

First team to score

This football betting Malaysia favorite is self-explanatory. Bet on the team you think will score in the match first.

BTTS means Both Teams To Score. Simply bet on ‘yes’ or ‘no’.

Double Chance

A Double Chance Bet allows you to cover two of the three normal 1×2 options. So, for example, you can bet on 1x, meaning you win if the home team wins or the match ends in a draw. Of course the odds are lower this way, but you have a greater chance to win with your football betting.

This form of double football bet allows you to bet ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on Both Teams To Score and the result of the match at the same time to maximize your returns

Over/Under is an extremely popular football betting Malaysia market. Simply bet on whether there will be more or less than 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 etc. goals. So if you bet on under 2.5 goals, if there are two girls you win but if there are three goals you lose.

First Goalscorer

Bet on which player you think will score the first goal in the match.

Anytime Goalscorer

Bet on a player on either side to score a goal at any time during the match to win

Last Goalscorer

With this market, bet on the player who you think will score the final goal in the match. Of course it might not be one of the starting players!

Correct score

This incredibly popular football betting Malaysia market gives you the chance to bet on the exact score at the end of the match. It’s not easy, but maximizes those winnings if you are right!

With a handicap, you can bet on a team to win or draw with a goal added or taken away from their total. For example, if you bet on Barcelona to win -1, then Barcelona must win by two goals for you to win your soccer bet.

Asian Handicap

The Asian Handicap is an incredibly popular football betting Malaysia market and gives you the chance to bet with a handicap but also eliminates the draw as an option. It’s a form of two-way betting, and different lines are offered to determine how much of your stake is refunded if the match ends in a draw.
